Challenging, triggering, and dysregulating situations are inevitable in the helping profession, especially for those who support children and families exposed to varying levels of trauma and toxic stress. Understanding how our bodies, minds, and emotions automatically respond to challenging situations provides us with not only the insight that allows us to increase our daily wellness, but mindful awareness to strengthen and build safe and secure interpersonal relationships with those we work with. This training will take a deep dive into identifying and understanding the holistic body-mind-emotional impact of triggers, countertransference, and stress responses, and equip learners with mindfulness techniques to increase self-regulation in order to give the best care to those we provide service.

Jess Bernal , MA, LMFT
Jess Bernal is an Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant, adjunct instructor, and licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who holds a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and a certification of specialization in Behavior Analysis. Jess has spent the last 20 years working with the birth to five population, specifically focusing on infant and early childhood mental health, social/emotional development, caregiver and staff wellness, and mitigating the impact of trauma exposure.

The California Board of Behavioral Science (BBS) recognizes APA continuing education credit for license renewal.
CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY:
By registering for this training the agency is liable for the registration fee, which is refundable up to April 20, 2023 minus the ~6% Eventbrite charge. Registration is transferrable prior to the start of the training. Once the training begins, fees are non-refundable/transferrable and no partial refunds will be given.
